DF Series Cards

DFCC

The DF Series provides a modular, flexible integrated inverter controller platform. The core MCU platforms use Texas Instruments latest range of Piccolo and Delfino Microcontrollers. The power of these Microcontrollers is combined with a flexible motherboard and peripheral card range to produce an overall inverter platform.

The DF Series Control Card interfaces directly with a DF Series Inverter Controller Motherboard. This combination provides all of the inputs and outputs required to directly drive an inverter with up to 30kW rating (50kW+ with optional G05 Gate Driver).

The use of multiple cards allows the functionality of the DF Series card stacks to be tailored to specific applications.

Microcontroller Control Cards

The DF Series Control Cards are based around Texas Instruments’ proven Microcontroller cores, to provide reliable, stable glitch-free operation within a power electronic environment. They support the Piccolo TMS320F2807x and Delfino TMS320F2837xS and TMS320F2837xD Microcontrollers with the 176-pin PTP footprint.

The Control Card mounts to a DF Series Inverter Controller Motherboard and supports the addition of Peripheral Cards for a range of isolated communications interfaces. The Control Card enables boards stacking to provide a higher volume density.

The DF Series platforms are suitable for both prototype and production use. Each card is available with plug-in headers for prototype development and in a direct solder form for production. This minimises any rework when moving to production.

The interconnect structures used with the DF Series have been used for inverter control within harsh vibrational and thermal cycling environments, such as railway rolling stock.

Inverter Controller Motherboards

Inverter Controller Motherboards provide direct interface capability with an inverter power stage. The motherboards support many applications such as Inverters, Battery Chargers, Thyristor Rectifiers or any power electronics based control application.

Solder-in gate driver modules enable the card to drive power stages with ratings from 1kW to 100kW+.
